His work is very reminiscent of old illustrations dating back from the 50s and earlier. Occasionally I collect old valentines and books dating back to that decade or older so seeing this new work really gives me excitement.
I love the subject matter which is typically dealing with children in placing them in scary situations. They may not be realistic situations, but the scenes are still daunting and show a struggle between innocence and danger.
But not all of the pieces seem to be this way. I chuckle when I look at them. Mischievous kids and how they handle naked women and attacking barber poles!
